Chatty Cathy
The Chatty Cathy Doll was "talking" manufactured by the Mattel toy company from 1959 to 1965. Chatty It was the 2nd most popular doll of the 1960s after Barbie!
Alabama Church Bombing
On September 15th, 1963 there was a bombing of the 16th Street Baptist church in Birmingham, Alabama. Members of the KKK planted 19 sticks of dynamite beneath the steps of the church. Four little girls were killed in the bombing: Addie Mae Collins, Cynthia Wesley, Carole Robertson, and Carol Denise McNair. This church had a predominantly Black congregation that frequently served as a meeting place for civil rights leaders, and the event sparked an outrage between protesters and police, which drew national attention to the struggle for civil rights for Black citizens.
Dr. Kildare
Dr. Kildare was an NBC medical drama television series that ran from 1961 to 1966. The series starred American actor and singer, Richard Chamberlain, one of television’s first sex symbols, desired by women all over!
The Beatles
The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool, England in 1960. The group's best-known line-up included John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. They are regarded as the most influential band of all time, winning the hearts of teenage girls who saw them as the ultimate sex symbols.
Gidget
Gidget was the main character in an American sitcom, novel, and film about an adventurous teenage girl called "Gidget". The television series starred actress Sally Field. Gidget was the "it" girl of the time period, many young girls looked up to her and she was considered very desirable to men!
Tammy
Tammy was a the main character used in a film and TV series about a Southern sweet and polite teenage girl looking for romantic love. The television series starred Debbie Watson as Tammy. The character was another well desired woman and also another role model for young girls!
